Uplifting High School Program
Uplifting Education High School aligns with the “Big Picture Learning” design which is a dynamic approach to learning, doing, and thinking that has been changing the lives of students, educators, and entire communities since 1995.
Uplifting Education's guiding value is the Life Goals Approach.
We seek to nourish not just the intellect but the heart and equip people to live fulfilling and meaningful lives. The search for purpose is connected to three life goals: to achieve individual maturity, to cultivate harmonious and loving relationships, and to make a valuable contribution to society. Achieving these life goals provides personal joy and happiness as it enhances others’ lives as well
Learning is based on the interests and goals of each student.
Curriculum is relevant to people and places that exist in the real world.

Framework for Learning
Students are guided through their four-year high school experience by the one advisor who knows them best. In advisory, students work with their cohort on meaningful projects, discussions, activities and team building.
Quarterly Exhibitions -
Each student defends his/her work in exhibitions at the end of each quarter. Advisors, parents, mentors, and peers offer feedback and recommendations for the following quarter. This practice not only reinforces knowledge but it is an incentive to make and complete non-academic goals. It also helps student's develop verbal and presentation skills. Depending on circumstances, these exhibitions will take place either in person, online, or both.
Academic Studies -
Each student creates a quarterly learning plan, revised and approved by the advisors and parents, designed to ensure that all Uplifting Education students’ learning will provide adequate preparations for quality opportunities in their future including but not limited to college admission. Students take ownership over their daily plans to complete Competency Badges in subject areas, quests, and achievements based on the purpose, goals, and lifetime value of education. Some badges in core subjects and achievements are required for graduation while others are unique to each student. Project quests are an opportunity for students to acquire in-depth knowledge based on their interests.
The foundation of the personalized learning students engage in is apprenticeships. These adventures with entrepreneurs, scientists and community leaders are where meaningful relationships are built with responsible adults through mentorship, training, and real-life experience and accountability.
The Dual Purposes -
The Dual Purposes are to love yourself and live for the sake of others. Through the advisory, students will receive nourishment for their heart, mind, and spirit. In turn, they will be asked to apply the life goals approach. To support the heart to give back to our community, as well as to develop empathy and passion, students will engage in service learning as part of their high school experiences at Uplifting Education.
Successful Grit -
The Four "P" Foundation is the combination of purpose, passion, perseverance, and positivity needed to develop successful grit. It is built by expanding interests, delving deeper, going beyond hindrances, and keeping hope through adversity.
Overall Goal -
The Four Capacities Outcome is the overall goal for each student to be a successful learner, a confident individual, a responsible citizen, and an effective contributor. The purpose of the Four Capacities is to develop the knowledge, skills, and attributes students will need if they are to flourish in life, learning, and work; now and in the future.
